How it Works
Primary Tutor Online offers structured daytime online group tuition designed to support home-educated children (KS1–KS4) as learning develops.
Sessions are teacher-led, curriculum-aligned, and designed to work alongside your wider home education plans.
Online lessons via Zoom
- All sessions take place online via Zoom, allowing children to learn from home in a familiar and comfortable environment.
- A paid Zoom account is not required — the free version works perfectly well.
Group-based learning
- Lessons are taught in online groups, providing:
- Clear teacher guidance
- Opportunities to listen, engage, and learn alongside others
- A structured, supportive learning environment
- Children are encouraged to participate but are never put on the spot.
Camera-shy children are welcome
- Children are not required to have their camera on during sessions.
- Many learners prefer to begin with cameras off, and are encouraged to engage in a way that feels comfortable for them.
Aligned with the national curriculum
- Sessions closely follow the national curriculum, ensuring learning is structured, progressive, and appropriate for each child’s age and stage.
- This provides reassurance for parents who want confidence that learning is aligned with recognised expectations.
Session length
Sessions are focused and age-appropriate:
- KS1 (ages 4–7): 30 minutes
- KS2–KS4 (ages 7–16): 45 minutes
Each session follows a clear, predictable structure so children know what to expect.
Booking and payment
Sessions are booked online in advance, with payment handled securely.
Families can:
- Pay as you go
- Book a small number of sessions
- Book a full term block to secure a regular place
This flexibility allows families to fit sessions around their child’s needs, without pressure or long-term contracts.
Flexible attendance
Children can attend:
- Regular weekly sessions
- Selected subjects or key stages
- Alongside other home education activities
Sessions are designed to support home education, not replace it.
A calm and inclusive learning environment
Teaching is delivered in a calm, supportive way, with an emphasis on:
- Clear explanations
- Confidence-building
- Inclusivity
- Consistency and routine
This approach particularly supports children who benefit from structure and predictability.
What you don’t need to do
You don’t need to:
- Prepare your child in advance
- Stay in the room during sessions
- Purchase any additional software
Our role is to provide professional teaching support, giving parents reassurance as learning becomes more challenging.
Supporting children to learn, achieve, and succeed — at their own pace.
